We will have our annual Winery Gasshuku as follows:

Fees:

Dojo Rental: It will depend on the number of participants, and we will split among the adult Kenshis.
Adult Kenshi: $10 – 20 (we will split the cost, so more people, it will be cheaper!)
18 and under: $0

Wine & BBQ:
Adult: $25
18 and Under: $5

Hotels:

Everyone to book the hotel on your own. Suggestion is to book near the winery, so you do not have to drive after the BBQ.

2017 SCKO Shinpan (Referee) Seminar

Date: 5/21/2017 @ Butokuden
Time: 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Godo keiko 3:45 – 4:45)

Instructor: Hori sensei 7 Dan, Ariga sensei 7 Dan and Okawa sensei 7 Dan
Participants: Kendo rank of 1 Dan and above (Over 14 years old)
Please come prepared with:
– Shinpan Ki (Referee Flags)
– Mejiryushi (Red/White Ribbon tags)
– Referee Booklet (2006 ver.)
– Kendo Dogu and Shinai

Please pay upon arrival: $10 Bento fee (Pay to: Southern California Kendo Organization) The deadline for the application is May 6th. Please send us back.

We need volunteers as player. Kyu rank and children are also welcome.
Could you please ask your dojo members. If anyone can participate as player, also please write their name on the list. This is very good opportunity for learning about referee and improving your skill. We are looking forward to many people taking this opportunity to attend!

4. Women’s Team: Three woman team (14 years and older). Two teams allowed.

5. Adult Team: Five person team. Two teams allowed. ***Dojo must have 2 members to have a team (Senpo and Taisho). A member from another dojo may be added to an incomplete team by tournament organizers.

 

SCKO Godo Practice @ San Diego, March 19 2017

March 2017 SCKO GODO KEIKO will be held in San Diego.
SCKO has rented a bus so we can all have fun going together. After practice, we have arranged luncheon at nearby restaurant and then to go sightseeing.
We set up 3 meeting places to catch the SCKO bus (West LA, Gardena and Irvine). Specific places will be announced later.
Please come to the most convenient meeting place for you.
The schedule, Lunch fee and location are below.

If some people do not want to join the lunch, they can drive directly to the gym. Or if someone drives their car, but wants to join lunch, please sign up for lunch.
Parents can also get rides if there are seats.
Please mention in the comment if parents also want to get rides and lunch.

Let’s try to have KEIKO with other kenshis and enjoy the trip with us!

4. Application Deadline: Must be received no later than March 31, 2017. No Exceptions.

6. Applicants Must Bring: All ranks must bring own Kendo-gu, neat Keiko-gi and Hakama, and Shinai.
3 Kyu and Up, bring Bokuto for taking “Bokuto Keiko hou” (Training Method for
fundamental kendo techniques with Bokuto) and Nihon Kendo Kata exams.
1 Kyu and Up, bring completed Written Test Questionnaire.

(*1) All 1 Kyu and 1-4 Dan taking the exam must complete the attached written examination prior to the exam date.
They must submit this on the day of the exam. Written examination is the last state of your promotion exam.
(*2) Please distribute copies of attached Written Test Questionnaire to your dojo members for this purpose.
(*3) Examinees who successfully pass all stages of the rank exam MUST pay Certificate (Menjo) fee at the day of the
exam, after the results are announced. Without paying the certificate fee on the day of the exam, the passed rank
will be annulled.
(*4) AUSKF issues only English certificates.
(*5) All examinees must be a member of AUSKF and pay their annual fee before submitting for examination.
