BUTOKUDEN Dojo is one of the largest Kendo Dojos in Orange County, and we currently have four levels of Kendo classes. Our instructors are well qualified instructors with international competition experiences, with extensive experience in teaching Kendo

(1) Kid’s Kendo
This class focuses on teaching basic movements such as footwork, Suburi (basic Shinai movement), as well as important etiquette and manners in Dojo, for kids who are just starting Kendo. We have students from 3 to 12 years old in this class.
Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 – 4:30PM
Location: BUTOKUDEN Kendo Dojo (Dojo 1)
Age group: 3 – 12 years old
Fee: $35/Month
(2) Kendo Junior Advanced
This class is for children who has completed the Kid’s Kendo class and has been approved by the Sensei (instructor) to proceed to the next level. Older children, with limited experience in Kendo, may be able to attend this class, upon Sensei’s approval.
Advanced techniques are taught in this class. Basic and advanced movements with Kendo Bogu are taught in more depth including Kirikaeshi, Uchikomi, Kakarigeiko, Ouyou Waza, Competition techniques, and much more. There are a few official tournaments hosted by the Southern California Kendo Federation (SCKO) which students are allowed to attend, upon Sensei’s approval.

Age group: 13 – 16 years old (or equivalent level)
Fee: $50/Month (Under Shodan), $45/Month (Shodan and up)
(3) Kendo for All Ages
This class is focused for children and adults. We have a variety of levels in this class so everyone is welcome. For advanced people, we run a full advanced technique classes, with high level Wazas and competition techniques. For beginners, Senseis and Sempais will help you so you can start practicing with more advanced people. We also have lessons for children and adults just starting Kendo.

(4) BUTOKUDEN Open Keiko
Open to everyone from everywhere. Just bring your Bogu and let’s practice! We have students from all classes, and many guests from different Dojos to join this BUTOKUDEN Open Keiko. This is the time to test your skills with people at different levels, and Dojos.
Time: Wednesday 7:00 – 8:30PM
