Time Limit:
Individual matches –3 minutes, 2 minute extension, hantei (EXCEPT semifinals and final)

Team Matches – 3 minutes, NO extension

*Tournament will follow SCKF Tournament Rules and Regulations, Ver 3.1, 01/2009

For all divisions: NO Tsuki. NO Jodan. A participant may only use the chudan position to strike from. A Strike from other non-chudan kamae will not be considered as a valid point.

16 yrs and over – $20.00

The rank examination follows the rules stated in the “AUSKF Regulations for Kendo promotion examination”.
SCKO welcomes kenshi from AUSKF approved federations to apply for the examination. However, the following conditions must be fulfilled:
* All non-SCKO participans must receive written approval from your
federation to take the promotion exam.
* SCKO reserves the right to accept or refuse participants based on,
but not exclusive to, the conditions listed above.

2017 Butokuden Christmas Tournament & Party (December 17, 2017)

This is our Dojo’s biggest and last event of the year. I hope everyone can attend with your family!

RULES and REGULATION
1. Regulations of the matches will follow “The Regulation of Kendo Shiai and Shinpan” set forth by the Federation of International Kendo (FIK).

2. Tsuki Waza and Jodan are authorized for over 16 years old only AND MUST HAVE Dan Rank.

3. Each person can only participate in one division and is responsible for bringing one’s own Me-Jirushi

4. Tournament brackets will be made right before the tournament. Depending on the number of participants, some divisions may be combined with others.

Round 2: Kirikaeshi (1set)
Round 3: Kote-Men (2), Kote-Do (2), KoteMen-Do (2)
Winner: Decision by Hantei

KYU Group 2 minutes 3 Point Match / Unlimited Encho

DAN Group 3 minutes 3 Point Match /Unlimited Encho

*KYU & DAN Group: Semifinal and Final will be Unlimited Encho,

 Grand Championship 3 minutes 3 Point Match / Unlimited Encho,

 East –West Match 2 minutes / 3 point match No Encho KACHINUKI Match.
(In the case of a tie, the next kenshi from each team will compete)

Rules: Each Dojo can submit up to 2 teams in each division

                3 minutes, no extension

*Kachinuki Team

       3 Kenshi consisting of any combination of below mentioned:

            -Adult kyu (18 years of age and older)

            – Yudansha (up to 3 dan and 30 years of age and older)

       Minimum of 2 Kenshi per team

Taisho cannot tie.  If there are any ties prior to the taisho match both participants will sit down.

No jodan, no nito, and no tsuki

Each dojo can submit up to 2 teams for both Kyu and Kachinuki Teams.

Tournament Fee:  $30.00

Dojo Rental: It will depend on the number of participants, and we will split among the adult Kenshis.
Adult Kenshi: $10 – 20 (we will split the cost, so more people, it will be cheaper!)
18 and under: $0

Wine & BBQ:
Adult: $25
18 and Under: $5

Hotels:

Everyone to book the hotel on your own. Suggestion is to book near the winery, so you do not have to drive after the BBQ.

SCKO Godo Practice @ San Diego, March 19 2017

March 2017 SCKO GODO KEIKO will be held in San Diego.
SCKO has rented a bus so we can all have fun going together. After practice, we have arranged luncheon at nearby restaurant and then to go sightseeing.
We set up 3 meeting places to catch the SCKO bus (West LA, Gardena and Irvine). Specific places will be announced later.
Please come to the most convenient meeting place for you.
The schedule, Lunch fee and location are below.

If some people do not want to join the lunch, they can drive directly to the gym. Or if someone drives their car, but wants to join lunch, please sign up for lunch.
Parents can also get rides if there are seats.
Please mention in the comment if parents also want to get rides and lunch.

Let’s try to have KEIKO with other kenshis and enjoy the trip with us!
